Step onto the rowdiest stage at the biggest party in the Wild West, and open for some of the biggest names in the rock ‘n’ roll. That’s exactly what the world-famous Sturgis Buffalo Chip did by inviting undiscovered bands to compete for a chance to play at the 2014 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. But The Chip doesn’t let just any band take the stage. They need a worthy one — and that’s where our “roadie” skills came in. The Chip tasked us with crafting a custom-built contesting platform, complete with a responsive design ranging from a full-screen desktop experience to a gorgeously adaptive mobile site. In addition,contest tools increased engagement through social media gamification, sharing and voting, and a constantly updated “Hot List” leaderboard. Our behind-the-scenes magic included social media monitors and voter fraud prevention systems. We also created smart band status tools that allowed The Chip to easily follow band social activity, award points, review content being posted to band profiles and much more.
The results? In just a few weeks, The Chip’s site was already near its halfway goal — with 11 weeks to go. Let’s hope the lucky band performs as well. Rock on!
